Waiting, hoping, and wishing...

Well it has been awhile since we have been on here so we though we might give an update of sorts. As the title suggests....lately the casa de Askvig has been a house of waiting, hoping, and wishing....it is almost humorous the race to the mailbox everyday to find out any news. It makes me think about what it must have been like before phones. Was the excitement of the mail to hear news from family, friends, etc... Anyway, as some of you know, J is waiting to hear from law schools. The latest update is that Montana has said yes....also, Creighton has said yes and offered him a scholarship for half of tuition....still outstanding are Arizona, Baylor, and yes the University of North Dakota. Since the deadlines for most of these schools have passed, he is hopeful that he will hear anyday...

More importantly is the reason C races to the mailbox everyday. About 2 weeks ago, C took her comprehensive exam. Yep, she took the test that could determine if she graduates in May. The envelope should arrive anyday and I can tell you J and C are waiting to see the news...

Besides waiting by mailboxes, C has been very busy working, interning, and keeping track of everything that is happening in the Askvig household. C still works at CENTRE Inc. However, she stepped down to half-time for awhile because she has to complete about 700 hours of internship for her graduate program. As you probably know, has been interning at the State Penitentiary. We had the pleasure to run into one of the addiction counselors when we were out at the Bismarck Boat show this weekend. It was great to hear how they enjoy C and it will be fun to hear more as things progress. It amazes J everyday to watch her pull 12 hour days and still make time to be a loving wife and family caregiver.

J in the meantime has been busy at the Capitol lobbying for NDEA. The legislature is roughly half way completed and he has taken a couple of days off from work to rejuvinate and refresh. Also, J was recently asked to join the Far West Rotary Club in Bismarck, ND. They meet 7 am every Monday morning. It is early but perfect for J because he can kick his week off with fellowship and a good breakfast. J enjoys being busy because it keeps his mind from being preoccupied with applications. However, he still races to the mailbox every day.

The catnips kids are back at it lately. The newest venture is their love for snoozing on our kitchen table. J finds this very annoying, especially since Lola likes to knock everything possible off the table. C thinks J's frustration is semi-humurous.

Anyway, that is what is new...

BTW this cartoon exemplifies how our catnip kids feel about our bed....especially McKenzie:http://www.doobybrain.com/2007/07/14/comics-etc/

Montana votes Yes

Well if anyone is curious about the title....good. J officially got his first letter back from law schools. As the title states, the University of Montana, with a letter dated only seven short days after submitting his application, is "...pleased invite you to join the 2009 entering class as a nonresident student." Once we hear who all has accepted and rejected J, we will be asking you to vote for where you think J should attend or if he should attend at all.

So to study up for the future vote you can find out more information at the University of Montana School of Law.

Hopefully more to come soon!
